Volunteer Information

Volunteering: Summer league swim meets are dependent upon volunteers. All parents will be expected to volunteer for most meets during the season. Our greatest needs are at home meets. We also are in need of stroke and turn volunteers. These individuals must take a short class to become certified officials, which can either be online or in person. In person certification is preferred for first time officials.  Those that are already GHSA or USA Swim Certified do not have to take the course.

Volunteer Positions

Candy/Water Person: Hand out candy to heat winners and supply volunteers with water during the meet.

Runner: Gather DQ slips from officials and time sheets from timers to deliver to the scoring table. One for each half, total of 2.

Verifier:  Enter times into Meet Maestro software and verify scores against timing sheets.

Shepherds:  Keep up with your assigned swimmers, ensure they are at their events, and return them to parents(for the littles) at the end of their events for that day. Twelve total needed to have 2 for each age group, boys and girls.

Starter:  Runs the meet, starting and announcing each event.

Stroke and Turn Official:  Observe whether the rules relating to the style of swimming designated for the event are being observed. Certification is required and is available online and in person. Those that are already GHSA or USA Swim Certified do not have to take the course.

Timers: Use a stopwatch to keep times during the meet. Need one head timer and 6 others for each half, total of 14 per meet.

Event Tacker:  Responsible for flipping the large event numbers to the current event underway so that everyone can track which event we are on. Also updates this information in the Swimtopia app.  This can be anyone teenager and up. One needed per half, two total.

Grillers:  Grill and package hot foods for sale at the Pavilion. This is for home meets only. Two needed total.

Grill Station Servers:  Take orders and payments, serve guests with hot foods, drinks and chips. This will be outside under the pavilion and is for home meets only. Three needed total.

Parking attendants:  Home meets only.  Aid in parking cars in an orderly and efficient manner.  Preferred that they arrive with the home team at 430, but job only lasts until 6 pm.  One to two needed per home meet.
